This is the opening track from Sierra Hull’s new record, Weighted Mind.
Sierra Hull is a hugely talented vocalist and mandolin player. The music on this new record is a mix of different bluegrass sub-genres, but this first track is my favourite so far. It’s a mandolin and double bass duet with some haunting, contemplative vocals towards the end of the song. It feels very much like a super stripped-back Punch Brothers song because of it’s spiralling melodies and unconventional harmonic progressions and I love it!
