Sadly, Ground Up Music have confirmed today that there will be no accompanying DVD for Aftersun, the latest project from Snarky Puppy pianist, Bill Laurance.
The DVD is a feature that we have come to expect from all of Ground Up’s most highly publicised projects, which comes as a particular shock here, considering the critical and relative commercial success of the last two Bill Laurance records.
I am particularly disappointed about the lack of DVD for this project as the process of recording these pieces must have been particularly interesting. My best guess as to why there is no DVD, is that due to the dance-inspired nature of the music, there wouldn’t have been all that much performance footage. I would imagine that there was considerably more editing and production involved in the making of this album than there was in Laurance’s previous works.
