To those precious few that keep tabs on this blog,

Firstly, thank you for sticking with me, and to those who have commented/messaged encouragement, an extra special thank you. It means a lot to know that you’re reading and enjoying my work.

Secondly, you may have noticed that the amount of content appearing here has been rather thin on the ground lately. This is mostly due to the time constraints of my degree, but also because a lot of my writing is appearing in other places.

I am currently serving as music editor for my university newspaper, The Sphinx (soon to be renamed), so most of what I’ve been working on is appearing there. We recently put out our Best of 2018 Album Roundup, which I’m really proud of, so please give it a read if you’re interested.

I’m still gonna be writing for this blog moving forward, but finding time to do so is a little bit of a struggle at the moment, so do bear withe me, I haven’t given up.

I’ve also been working on a little side project. Writing about music can sometimes feel a little silly. I frequently find myself taking music and music discourse a little too seriously, so every once in a while, when I feel like I don’t have anything truly important to add to the discussion around a new record, I try and find the funny in it.

Good Music, Bad Review is my Tumblr blog, on which I write satirical reviews of new albums, when my take feels to cynical or silly for Healthy Music Obsession. I’ve covered music by Big Red Machine, Eminem, Deafheaven and Jacob Collier over there in a way that is a lot less formal or restrained as my writing is here.

This is my first foray into comedic writing, so I’d really appreciate the feedback. If this sounds like the sort of thing that interests you, it’d be downright lovely if you’d give it a read.

Do let me know if there are any albums in particular you would like to see me cover here, or on any of the other sites for which I write. I’m always happy to take recommendations.

Happy new year, I hope 2019 is a good one for you.

All the best,

Daniel
